Yup, 25 years ago (and roughly five hours), I came out wiggling on April 3rd, Easter Sunday.

25 means…

… I’ve been graduated from high school, and voting, for 7 years.

… I’ve been driving for 9 years.

… I’ve been using the internet all but daily, and had my own computer, for 12 years.

… I’ve been an agnostic for 15 years.

… I’ve been “published” for 16 years (the Anthology of Poetry by Young Americans, totally cheesy but I was proud).

… I’ve been playing console video games for 20 years, and computer games for 22 (I knew better how to operate DOS when I was 3 than I do now).

… I’ve been writing for 20 years (my oldest story I can remember involved my first heroes, “Cat and Dog”, and their adventures at sea, when I was 5, I wrote a couple dozen stories about the same two characters until 3rd grade, when I finally moved on.)

… I’ve been a big sister for 23 years.

I’m getting oldz.

So we finally got our puppies yesterday — two four month old standard shnauzers. They’re so beautiful. When I can get them to slow down for a minute or two, I’ll post pictures. For now we’ve named them Hero (mine) and Kohl (mom’s) but both have been criticized as not-feminine enough. All other names I could suggest (IE Ophelia) were deemed too long. Dogs don’t respond to more than two syllables. I have been considering possibly Desdemona but obviously called her “Desi” most of the time.

Part of the agreement in getting them as cheaply as we did was that we’d let the breeders (friends of my mom) show them until they were champions (unless we move and it becomes impossible). Anyway, as they’re show dogs, we have to keep them on a pretty crazy diet. It’s possible we can transition them to dry food dressed up with a few other things (mostly only avoiding feeding them fresh chicken) but it was pretty well said that they didn’t want us to. This is the diet of a champion, apparently:

Dinner

1 chicken wing

1 chicken thigh

1 Tbls brocolli

1 Tbls carrots

1 tsp minced garlic (this is actually good for any dog, it keeps away fleas)

1 capsul vitamin C (this is temporary, to help their ears heal)

2 multivitamins

1/2 can sliced green beans

Sprinkled fish oil (keeps ther coat glossy)
Grated mozarella sprinkled on top

Breakfast

All that minus only the chicken thigh.

So yeah, we’ll see if we can keep that going… I am doubting it. Though if we were to transition them, we would definitely go with one of the types of dog foods that mirror the raw diet. Basically, the important part is that there isn’t any wheat, corn, soy, or other grains, because they cause allergies in dogs.

Anyway, they’re already great dogs and I’ve been glad to have them.

My little brother’s band has finally gotten another show in San Diego during their up and coming west coast mini-tour. They are really fun to see live, as they’re extremely performative, and you should all come out and see it! Their music is defined as “horror rock”. Basically, it’s a fusion of punk/metal/indie rock with an organ thrown in. But as I said, it’s a lot of fun.
